Biography 

Esther Greenglass obtained her Ph.D. from the University of Toronto. She has been a professor of psychology at York University since 1968. She is a Fellow of the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA), the American Psychological Association (APA), and the International Association of Applied Psychology (IAAP).

She has published five books, several book chapters, and a few hundred papers in academic psychological journals and she has been invited to talk about her research in many universities and at conferences all over the world.

Her research is in the areas of burnout, gender, social support, coping and health psychology.

Her work includes the influence of positive constructs on mood and burnout and has implications not only for psychological theory but also for health.

She has also conducted a cross-national study of the effects of the 2008 economic recession from a social psychological perspective and, along with her students, she has had a team of over 25 international collaborators working on this project. Currently Dr. Greenglass is conducting research on COVID-19 and psychological reactions such as depression, anxiety, and coping strategies as well as the relationship between economic factors associated with COVID-19 and psychological factors.

In more recent research, Dr. Greenglass and her team are investigating the psychological effects of watching the war in Ukraine. And in another research project, the focus is on return to in-person class and psychological factors. In all of her research, Dr. Greenglass integrates social psychological theory with her empirical studies.
